Harvey Paul Davidson is a hospitality, tourism and travel industry professional. He is Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee, an independent organization and he is a consultant to destinations, hotels, conference centers, convention and visitor bureaus, transportation companies, attractions and restaurants, as well as other industry related organizations. His proven skills include meeting and event management, auditing sales staff performance and guest services, destination and management marketing and tourism sales and marketing. Also, he is a licensed New York City Sightseeing Guide and provides personal escort services for groups.
Mr. Davidson’s teaching experience includes being an adjunct at New York University and local community colleges offering courses in hospitality and tourism, and a guest lecturer at Cornell and The George Washington University. He is a member and past officer of numerous industry associations that include: Meeting Professionals International, where he is one of the founders and a past vice president and director; one of the founders of the Greater New York Chapter of MPI, the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International; the New York Pacific Asia Travel Association chapter (past president and current board member) and the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC) where he is the Associate Director and a member of the Industry Relations Committee. He is also a past Vice President of the National Federation of Tourist Guide Associations – USA and former Area Representative – USA for the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations. In addition, he represents GANYC on the NYC & Company board of directors in an ex-officio position. Davidson often appears as a speaker and panelist at industry events and he is the author of many published articles. His invention, the “Meeting Planner Template” has sold over 10,000 units.
Also, he was in the first group to become a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and now has emeritus status. In addition, he is a Certified Hospitality Marketing Executive (CHME). While some CHMEs have later achieved the CMP recognition, Davidson is thought to be one of the first CMPs to earn a CHME designation. This combination is a value added asset in understanding the needs of meeting planners and suppliers of services that are beneficial for his clients.
In addition, he has appeared as a speaker or panelist at numerous hospitality industry events and he has written articles on various aspects of meeting and event planning and management including topics on budgeting and site inspections. This has resulted in adjunct teaching and guest lecturing assignments at New York University, Cornell and The George Washington University, as well as other local colleges. His awards and honors are indicated here.
He has served on many industry advisory groups that include, but are not limited to, the Marriott Corporate Forum, the Walt Disney World Council of Advisors, and the East Asia Travel Association. In addition, he is a “Gold Certified” mystery shopper.
